A new program has arrived at Signal Mountain Middle School (SMMS).
Introducing . . . SMX . . . Signal Mountain eXtras!! SMX is an eXtracurricular program designed by the Mountain Education Foundation (MEF) for middle school students.
Program Details: SMX is open to any 6th-8thgrade student enrolled at SMMS. Students will receive tutoring and assistance with homework starting at 2:15 p.m. before the eXtra activities begin each day. Multiple eXtracurricular activities will meet daily beginning at 4:00 p.m. The eXtracurricular activities will include the following with other opportunities to be added during the school year:
- Art & Pottery Classes
- Intramurals
- Yoga
- Book & Literature Clubs
- Wikis, Social Media & Blogging
- Robotics
- iMac, Computer Classes, Gaming &Garage Band
- Tutoring
- Field Trips & more
Hours: The program will operate every day that school is in session providing eXtra activities that students may attend from 2:15 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. All activities will be held at SMMS. Also, students who participate in middle school sports programs after school are welcome to attend or after their daily practice. Students may be picked-up anytime between 2:15 and 6:00 pm. Students may attend daily or on the days that their favorite eXtracurricular activity meets.
Cost: The cost of the program is $11.00 per day.
Eligibility: SMX is open to any 6th-8th grade student enrolled at SMMS. In order to participate in SMX, students must enroll before attending. Enrollment forms and activity registration information will be available during school registration, as well as throughout the year at the MEF and school offices. There is a $25.00 annual enrollment fee. Licensing: The SMX program will complete Tennessee State licensing requirements by August 16, 2010, and all staff and eXtracurricular leaders will have background checks.
